Etter Family Photoshoot

I thought I would share a favorite mini session of mine from this past Christmas season. The Etters are amazing friends! They actually introduced Austin and I (a story I should probably share in the future). Urban photoshoots are a great idea during the winter season while the trees shed their leaves, so when they contacted me about this idea, I, of course, jumped on it! Even though one of the girls didn’t feel quite well, you wouldn’t be able to tell because they all look STUNNING! Velvet dresses, historical buildings, and downtown Fort Worth makes this whole Christmas picture photoshoot a favorite of mine. I pray that even though we are past the Christmas season, you are reminded of all the sweet gifts God has given. He has come to give us love, joy, peace, and help. 

Mason Senior Photos

Graduation is coming up SO SOON for the seniors of 2018!! Today, I get to share our senior session with Mason from a couple of weeks back. Mason is an avid disc golf player and wanted to have his session at Lester Lorch Park in Cedar Hill. I had never been there but said, "OF COURSE!" Because I'm always up for trying new places. And to say the location was a hit is an understatement! Check out the pics we captured! 

Probably my favorite part about this photoshoot is that we through his siblings to get some fun sibling shots at the beginning of the shoot! 

The fun thing about the sibling session is that Mason is graduating and his little sister is entering Kindergarten!!! So we HAD to get the picture above!

Kayci Darkroom Session

Guys, I'm utterly terrible at doing blog posts. Being a full-time Designer plus doing this fun business on the side keeps me busy and you know blogging tends to be the thing that I put on the back burner. 

In my feeble attempts at blogging my work, I knew I HAD to share Kayci's Darkroom session. Because well... IT. WAS. MAGICAL. I'm not joking! Photographers if you haven't visited this lovely moody venue, you need to. 

Kayci is a sweet friend that I've had for years that I also have the privilege of working with. She shoots photos as well and one day I looked over at her and said, "Hey, could I do you a photoshoot for you?" And the creativity began! 

Oh and did I mention her awesome pup came along? Isn't he the cutest (insert all the heart eye emojis here)! Meet Scout!!!

Can you believe that the picture below is in the BATHROOM? When the lighting is amazing, even in the bathroom, you utilize every inch of space!

Isn't Kayci stunning!!!! And who can pull off bright red lipstick like her?!

The Holidays and Crested Butte Vacation

This past year I have OVERLY busied myself. I struggle often with finding my worth in my work and still fight that battle, daily having to lay down my selfishness.  For example, the holiday season was a running back and forth between family members, photoshoots, and my full-time job because I struggle with saying no. AND I'm the one in charge of our families calendar?!?!

Maybe we need to rethink that role and hand it over to my husband who has no problem with saying no.

Christmas day, Austin and I ended up taking a much-needed vacation with some sweet friends in Crested Butte, Colorado. I had never been to Crested Butte and I hadn’t been to Colorado since I was around the age of 10! I love nature, so all the emotions that I posses (and I possess A LOT) were on overload as we drove into this beautiful place! 

I mean I was in awe! Blown away by my Creator! As we drove in and everything slowed down, I actually sat and spent long lengths of time with my Lord. Praying, reading, and simply being still for hours. Nothing making me rush to fit it in. Just simply spending as much, uninterupted time as I wanted in His word. 

The God of all comfort, love, peace, and joy flooded my heart and mind that was exhausted, calloused and weary. There was a realization that I can’t do it all, nor was I meant to. There was a surrendering (and still is a day-to-day surrender) to His will and what and where He is calling me.

I got to sit and read a book, guys!!!! Like outside of my bible, I rarely read. Mainly because I busy myself to the point that doing another thing stresses me out. But I picked up a book. I picked up the book “Cultivate” by Lara Casey and wow, it was like the Lord was speaking directly to all my selfishness and tenderly saying,

“I’m enough. Not all the things you try to do. I fill you up, give you nourishment, and understanding.”

I highly recommend the read so far! I’ll let you all know my final thoughts once I finish.

Alongside that growth, I learned how to ski! It. Was. Awesome. I told Austin that we need to move our log cabin back in Texas to the mountains! I mean Austin is a highly skilled skier and you know, I and my beginner self could totally make it work! ;) I’ve at least talked him into going back in the future! PRAISE! We also got to go with some dear friends, the Etters and the Nunes! And of course, when you NEVER see snow you insist on doing family photoshoots to capture these beautiful families in this beautiful place! 

Friends, if you can read and remember one thing from this post, I want it to be this. Be okay with and make space for being at rest with our God. Stop. Be okay with the silence, enjoy knowing him and his word deeply, and sit and be with the Lord. I know it can be hard! I don’t like sitting and thinking over my mess. I don’t like at times what the Lord has to deal with within my heart. But let Him. Listen to Him. Delve into His word. Delight in your Savior. If your searching for understanding, peace, worth, love, you can and will find it in Jesus.

Jared + Ginny

Wow, don't the holiday's throw off your rhythm?! BUT it was a MUCH needed break! (Be looking for that post to come soon and see what all we did over the break. I will link it here.)

Now, back to this sweet couple! I got to capture their beautiful elopement and it was the most intimate union I've ever experienced. I've known Ginny for almost 5 years since meeting her at Ovilla Road Baptist Church and it is really awesome to see the Lord bring Jared into her life again after college. They have a pretty cool story, if you know her, you should ask her sometime. From getting ready at her parent's house, going to the awesome courthouse in Waxahachie with all their family to be wed, and then back to the house for the reception, everything was simply beautiful. I hope you enjoy seeing a glimpse of their special day!
